Rioting Spreads to 300 Towns in France — PARIS - Rioting by French youths spread to 300 towns overnight and a 61-year-old man hurt in the violence died of his wounds, the first fatality in 11 days of unrest that has shocked the country, police said Monday.

French riots claim first life as unrest grows — A MAN beaten up during violence in a riot-hit suburb north of Paris died of his injuries yesterday. — Jean-Jacques Le Chenadec, who was attacked on Friday evening and had been in a coma since then, was the first person to die as a result of the riots that began on October 27.
