The Fix-It Man Leaves, but The Agency's Cracks Remain  —  Porter J. Goss was brought into the CIA to quell what the White House viewed as a partisan insurgency against the administration and to re-energize a spy service that failed to prevent the Sept. 11 attacks or accurately assess Iraq's weapons capability.

Mission Accomplished  —  No matter what you hear, Goss came, he saw, he conquered.  This isn't a "staff change", it has nothing to do with Rove.  It was understood when he came in what he was coming in for.  He did what he came to do.  —  He swept, now others will collect the dust.

Goss Steps Down  —  This may be administration spin, or (perhaps) we're learning what actually prompted Porter Goss to step down as CIA Director.  According to ABC News, Director of National Intelligence John Negroponte was unhappy with Goss's performance, and initiated an effort to get rid of the CIA director back in mid-April.

Hayden as Goss' Replacement?  And you thought it couldn't get worse.  —  General Michael Hayden's name is being floated tonight by senior officials as a potential replacement for fired CIA chief Porter Goss.  Hayden is principal deputy director of US intelligence and was the director of the NSA for five years.
